Electricity and sockets

The Swedish electricity grid operates at 50 Hz and with a terminal voltage of 230 V.

Thesockets and plugs used in Sweden are 'European', i.e. type F with two circular holes. If you are travelling to Sweden from most European countries (except the UK, Ireland and Malta) then you do not need an adaptor.

Type F plugs also fit type C and E plugs.

  • Sockets - F
  • Voltage - 230 V
  • Frequency - 50 Hz

Internet

Sweden is part of the EU, so mobile data will work without a roaming surcharge for all EU, Iceland, Norway or UK citizens. Internet coverage in Sweden is very good in and around all populated areas.

However, in the countryside, mountains and national parks you may find yourself without a signal at all.

Public wi-fi networks are available in the vast majority of hotels and guesthouses and are available in many larger restaurants.

Call

The same rules apply to calling in Sweden for mobile operators from the EU, Norway and the UK as if you were calling domestically.

So you'll call home from Sweden at the same prices and tariffs as you would at home if you live in the EU, Norway or the UK. Don't expect any extra roaming charges when you travel to Sweden.

If you're from outside the EU, get Malta data e-sim quickly and easily on the web airalo.com.
